JANUARY TOP 10 HOME-LISTENING TUNES
since it's been the change of year, everyone has been making a sort of wrap-up of 2009, some to be able to throw it far away behind, it is the case for me. however, this is a great time to peak into everyone's summing-up and sucking into the good stuff.
having said that, for me this 2009 has given some beautiful discoveries...
Paris, with the parisians in it.
That nothing is everlasting, what an uproar.
Some friends are doing exceptionally well with their productions and are pouring over the world some beauty and delicate feelings.
That i need a helmet.
The slow but sure recuperation of my instinct.
That up there in heaven an amazing group of my people is building up, and can't wait.
as for the musical hotness of the year we just wrapped up, there has been quite a lot. it has been all about a hard mixture of old disco, slow rock and a big comeback to electronic sounds (minimal house, slow techno, experimental dub, etc).
todd terje, prins thomas, wolfy and the whole scandinavian crew doing some irreverent and sometimes fantastic cosmic disco shapes that you down like jello on a dancefloor.
john hopkins' beautiful compositions, that too.
simbad's angola re-edits, ouch!
the XX's album that, although one can still feel some amateur vibes in their production, they seem to be heading towards a beautifully emotional place. will keep an eye on them, and specially their remixes and remixers, they have some surprisingly deep electronic ones.
still keeping an eye out on Cassy and some rare releases on vinyl...
all-time uk garage prince mj cole is back on tracks and bouncing.
elmore judd. very talented singular young man.
john tejada, yes, the one.
argentinian juana molina, quite into her weird world of homemade sounds and songs.
radio slave is kicking it still.
